One of the best things about living in shanghai these days is that some really interesting people come through town all the time.   I am lucky enough to have always been invited.   Last night was the big golf charity event hosted by the CocoCola company.   it was the Gary Player Charity Invitation Golf tournament.    If you play golf I am sure you will know who Gary Player is.   He is today 72 years old but for a long long time, he has been on top of the golf game.   He is one of the most famous golf players in the world, being the world champion for 3 years.   He is South African and he is absolutely fantastic. He is in great shape and has more energy than I do. For 25 years, Gary’s charity has raised 25 million dollars.   Last year, in China they raised 1. 5 million.   This year, they raised 4 million.   very impressive.   THis year, they will spend in helping orphans of AIDS parents in China.   I bidded on the membership of a new club in shanghai called MINT. it is an exclusive club that provides very exclusvie services.   I like golfers.   I prefer to have a husband or a boyfriend who is a golfer.   Do you know why?  It is because golfers usually get up real early in the morning to play golf. In stead of staying up late at night to be in KTV places drinking and smoking and doing whatever else they do in KTV bars, they go to bed early.    It is a much better way to life.   Golf courses are just beautiful.   Today in china, there are so many of them and the club houses are really beautiful!  another  thing I love about golfers. . . i find them mostly very people oriented.   They are fun and always laugh and have lots of good friends or what they call “golf buddies” . The game is usually played with others.   Although you do compete with others, you basically are completing against yourself.   You keep your own scores.       Coca Cola was the sponsor last night.   It was really well done.   I enjoyed myself so much. David Wu was the great host.   he is one of the very best in china and comes often to host this kind of events.   he has the ability to flit from English to Chinese really well.   One of the most impressive people in the event is the gentleman who is called Douglas Jackson who is the President of Coca cola in China.    What energy this guy has.   What a sales person.   He is so likable that you will do whatever he wants you to do.   Coca cola is doing very well in china.   I remember now that when I started my TV show on CCTV  in china in 1986, Coca Cola was just starting in China.   One of my first advertisers was Coco Cola!   My dearest friend Serge Dumont who was the UN representative for AIDS in China was the one that invited me to the event.   I also was with ye zhao Ying(???)   who was the 2 times world Olympics of Badminton. and also liang wen zhong who was the first chinese to play in Master Tournament of Golf. This picture is me with Zhang zilin(???), Ms. World 2007.   The next Ms World contest will be in South Africa.  She will go there in December to hand over her crown to the new Ms World. .    She is really pretty.     Another reception I went to today with my beautiful friend Joanna Cappo.   It was the reception hosted by HSBC bank in the Shanghai Fiancial Center for the GOLF Championship.   We were on the 94th floor.   it was the first time I went to the building.   I never liked height.   so being on such height is not my cup of tea.   I felt uncomfortable and felt a bit dizzy a few times.   Do I like the building?  NO.   NO. NO!  it looks like an industrial building.   So gray so uninteresting.   All gray and all metal.   so cold.   Again, not my cup of tea.   Even the uniform of the workers are SO very unatrractive.   all gray and downy even on such young girls.   I am totally NO impressed. What is wonderful tonight was these gorgeous golfers i was with.   Mickelson is the no 2 golfer in the world after Tiger. This is one of the richest tournaments.   They get paid real well to come to china to play.
